Han So Hee is under hot waters involving her mother, who have yet again engulfed in a suspended prison sentence for her involvement in a series of gambling activities.
On May 16, the Chuncheon District Court announced a sentence against 55-year-old Ms. Shin, featuring one year in prison for the illegal operations. Hereafter, the court terminated the sentence deemed for two years, intending that she won’t be serving jailtime since she had not breached the law during the stated period. She will now serve 120 hours of community service.
Han So Hee’s agency issued a statement mentioning the actor’s separation from her mother’s actions:
“This is a personal matter involving Han So Hee’s mother. The actress only became aware of the situation through media reports. We apologize for the discomfort caused by this issue, which is unrelated to her professional activities.”
Gambling Scandal Details
The court disclosed that Ms Shin had operated atleast seven illegal gambling locations backed with exclusive access codes and management credentials. This was started after she encountered someone on Telegram who was involved in designated underground gambling ring. Channelising through minimal adult PC gaming rooms, these rings featured risky and high-stakes games like baccarat.
It was traced that most of these gambling activities were based in Wonju, while some were branched out in Ulsan and Gyeongju. Authorities found that Shin might have either worked with the canny PC room operators or have worked individually under lent names. The profits were divided between her and her associates.
Earlier, Ms. Shin in 2020 has been in legal trouble due to debt scandal. As a result, Han So Hee had apologized publicly for her mother’s wrongdoings.
