Han So Hee’s mother held by police for allegedly operating 12 gambling businesses

The mother of well-known South Korean actress Han So Hee has been listed by the police as potentially managing gambling businesses businesses. The actress was previously sued after her mother took out a 40 million KRW debt, with Han So Hee serving as the guarantee. Her daughter was penalized when she didn’t make the payment.
The South Korean news organization TV Chosun revealed on September 2, 2024, that Han So Hee’s mother had been taken into custody for operating several casinos. Shin, a 50-year-old woman, was detained by the police for unlawfully establishing and operating many gaming dens.
As to the findings, Shin employed business operators who acted as her proxies to oversee 12 gaming enterprises in cities such as Ulsan and Wonju between 2021 and the end of last month. Guests at these locations had access to a gaming website, they bought gaming currency and played games like Baccarat on the website.
In 2019, Shin obtained a 40 million KRW loan from a friend and named Han So Hee as a co-guarantor. But because she didn’t pay back the loan, Han So Hee was sued and ordered to pay the whole amount owed plus interest.
Han So Hee disclosed at that time that she was reared by her grandmother and saw her mother very little following her parents’ divorce when she was approximately five years old. It wasn’t until she was twenty that she discovered her mother’s debts. Even when she made an attempt to pay off her mother’s debts before to her debut, her name continued to be misapplied for further financial responsibilities.
