The Instagram accounts of Pakistani celebrities, Mahira Khan, Hania Aamir, and musician-actor Ali Zafar have been blocked in India.

Indian users who attempt to access the profiles are now being shown a message that says: “Account not available in India. This is because we complied with a legal request to restrict this content.”

The action is supposedly a result of the Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir. In an initial blow, the country blocked 16 channels in India and recently increased the ban to other Pakistani drama channels like Hum TV, ARY Digital, Har Pal Geo, etc.  is seemingly a part of an ongoing clampdown on Pakistani social media material in the wake of escalated tensions between the two nations.

Initially, actor including Mahira Khan and Hania Aamir have posted emotional note post the attack which was later deleted. Additionally, Fawad Khan also posted his statement on the mishap.

As of now, no official statement has been released by the Indian government about the ban on Instagram ban. Even the artists facing the ban have not issued any statement in this regard. Meta, the parent company owning the social media platform is yet to offer their stance.
