Filming on Dune 3, which stars Zendaya, Timothée Chalamet, and Josh Brolin, is scheduled to start in June 2025. Fans had previously anticipated that the trilogy’s last movie would start production in 2026, but according to Deadline, the producers may have accelerated the filming timetable in order to expedite the film’s global release.

The director of the Dune series, Denis Villeneuve, previously stated that he was already working on the third film’s script in an interview with a media portal.

Speaking extensively about the movie, Villeneuve said that he had the option of concluding the series with the second picture, however he clarified, “But yes, like Herbert did with Dune: Messiah, I think it’ll be a great idea to do something completely different. The story takes place about 12 years after where we left the characters at the end of Part Two. Their journey, their story is different this time, and that’s why I always say that while it’s the same world, it’s a new film with new circumstances.”
