One of the biggest names in South Korean entertainment, Lee Min Ho, may not have anticipated such a lackluster reaction. According to reports, the 37-year-old actor is having a lot of trouble selling tickets for his next fan event. Just 51% of the 2,500 seats have been sold, which is far less than what was anticipated, according to Instiz.
Even though this is his first tour in Asia in eight years, ticket sales have fallen short of expectations. Concerns are being raised since the fan meeting venue’s first and second floor sections are still far from selling out. The trip stops in Seoul, South Korea; Bangkok, Thailand; Macau; Taiwan; Jakarta; Manila, the Philippines; and Tokyo, Japan.
He has been compared to other stars of his generation, such as Kim Soo Hyun and Lee Jong Suk. Instiz reported that Lee Jong Suk, who hasn’t been active in a while, sold 2,000 tickets for his event, while Kim Soo Hyun sold out 4,500 seats for his fan meetup.
When the Stars Gossip was also criticized for its plot, special effects, and language. The bed scene involving Lee Min Ho’s character Gong Ryong and Gong Hyo Jin’s character Eve Kim was one of the most talked-about issue. Using computer-generated imagery, the scene caused viewers to react negatively. Many people referred to the s*x scene’s dialouge as “weird,” “outdated,” and “tacky,” which only served to increase the criticism. In addition, the science fiction drama had trouble with its ratings. It didn’t catch on, even with a huge production budget of 50 billion KRW (about 34 million USD). Episode 2 achieved the show’s greatest rating of 3.9%, but it then steadily declined and was never able to recover.
On the professional front, Lee Min Ho will feature in a film called Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint, based on a webtoon. The film also stars Ahn Hyo Seop, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Chae Soo Bin, Nana, and Shin Seung Ho in lead roles.
