Kangana Ranaut’s film, Emergency, was recently postponed. According to India Today, the film has received a U/A certificate from CBFC, with some cuts.
The film finally gets CBFC approval
According to the report, the film’s clearance is subject to particular criteria. The filmmakers have been instructed to remove some portions and provide disclaimers for a select moments.
Quoting a source, the report stated, “CBFC has asked filmmakers to give disclaimers on historical events depicted in the film.” However, the release date of the film has not been finalised yet.
The U/A certificate indicates that the video can be viewed by persons of all ages, but with parental supervision.
In addition to the certification delay, the film received criticism from Sikh groups for its portrayal of the community. In reality, several Sikh organizations, including Akal Takht and the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, demanded that the film be prohibited.
The opening few scenes of the film featured deceased Sikh insurgent Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale conspiring with Indira Gandhi, which sparked outrage.
