Manisha Koirala told PTI that she wasn’t even in SLB’s original plans, despite the fact that her career took a significant turn after the positive reviews she received for her performance in this romantic musical.

“I had done Khamoshi 28 years ago, and I was not his first choice for the role. I remember we had become friends, and he just said, ‘Manisha, I have written this script, just go through it. You are not acting in it; Kajol and Madhuri are my choices,'” Manisha quipped.

The actress found the script to be creative and thereby told the director, “Ye dono nahi mili to main hoon, haan? (If these two don’t work out, I’m there).”

In the movie, the actress portrayed Annie Braganza, a musically inclined woman who must decide between taking care of her parents, who are deaf and mute and are portrayed by Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas, and pursuing her passion.

Salman Khan, Helen, Himani Shivpuri, and Raghubir Yadav all played significant roles in Khamoshi. Despite being a commercial failure at the box office, this Bhansali masterpiece eventually displaced one of the greatest Indian films ever made.
