On March 27, the eagerly awaited follow-up to Mohanlal’s popular Lucifer hit theaters. Even in its second week, the Prithviraj Sukumaran-directed movie has been performing well at the box office. After eleven days, the movie is now edging closer to breaking into the ₹100 crore club at the box office, according to a recent article on Sacnilk.com.
The new report states that L2 Empuraan collected ₹4.25 crore on its eleventh day of release, which is its second Sunday. The film collected ₹21 crore on its opening day, twice the previous record for any Malayalam film. However, the film saw a 45 per cent drop on its second day, minting ₹11.5 crore. The film made ₹13.25 crore on its first Saturday and Sunday. L2 Empuraan made ₹84.35 crore net in India in its first week. The total collection of the film after taking day 11 into consideration now stands at ₹98.35 crore.

According to the data, on Sunday, 33.90 percent of L2 Empuraan was occupied by Malayalam speakers.
Mohanlal reprises his role as Khureshi Ab’raam, also known as Stephen Nedumpally, in L2 Empuraan. After traveling abroad, he returns home with the assistance of Zayed (Prithviraj) to focus on stopping CM Jathin Ramdas (Tovino Thomas).
After a number of right-wing activists objected to scenes that referenced the 2002 riots and the depiction of a right-wing party with subtle allusions to Indian politics, the movie became controversial. After 24 cuts, the movie was re-released on April 2.
