LE SSERAFIM’s Eunchae issues apology note over her remarks on alleged student mockery
The majority conveyed their relief that Eunchae had admitted her error and valued her readiness to accept accountability.
LE SSERAFIM’s much awaited showcase for their fourth mini-album, CRAZY, took place in Seoul on August 29. The trio made their first appearance at an event in six months after releasing their third album, Easy, in February. Fans were excited to hear the new songs, but Eunchae, one of the group’s members, also used the showcase as an opportunity to address a controversy that had been brewing since the previous year.
Eunchae, the maknae of LE SSERAFIM, used the occasion to publicly apologize for previous comments she had made that were thought to be a mockery of the students. After giving her actions some thought, she regretted what she had said, adding, “I thought about it comfortably without knowing it because it was a place to communicate with fans. I should have known that the closer we are, the more careful I should be, but I didn’t think deeply. I apologize for my immature behavior and for disappointing everyone. I will show a more responsible image with a careful heart.”
She added, “You guys go to school for a long time. It must be hard”.
She seeked answers over why students were required to study for long amounts of time in another statement she made later in September, during a fan interaction.
Following her comments, Eunchae faced criticism, with some claiming that she denigrated students. Many Korean internet users were taken aback by the showcase’s abrupt apologies, but the feedback was mainly supportive.
On August 30, LE SSERAFIM will release their album CRAZY, starting afresh after a period.
