Millie Bobby Brown opens up on playing with accents and changes over the years
The switch between several accents Brown used during her interviews for her Netflix film Damsel were brought to light by fans.

Millie Bobby Brown has always been subject to criticism about her accent, nonetheless, of the love she received for playing the American teenage girl Eleven on Stranger Things for years. The Enola Holmes actress playfully addressed fans who were critiquing her accent changes last year.
Brown’s accent gradually changed to an American one after she left her hometown in England to pursue success in Hollywood, and she has been in constant news about it ever since.
In an interview with TikToker Max Balegde, the actress made light of the situation. She claims that an actor “adopts” the individuals in her immediate vicinity. She said, “I’m an actor. I grew up in the public eye. I grew up in America.”
Although Brown has previously talked about learning the American vernacular for her character, she reassured fans that she doesn’t intentionally alter her accent.
She added, “I don’t do it intentionally,” before adding, “I am trying my best!”
Balegde defended and said, “She’s Millie Bobby Brown and she could speak how she wants.”
The actress’s most recent Instagram shot, taken just before 2024 ended, drew criticism from followers who thought she looked older than she actually was. Brown responded with a clap on January 1st, stating, “Women grow!! Not sorry about it.”
Millie Bobby Brown’s career is thriving in spite of hate speech and criticism. She will make a comeback in Stranger Things’ final season, which airs later this year.
