Min Hee Jin steps down as ADOR’s CEO; HYBE iterates absolute transparency

Given that there hasn’t been much news about HYBE and Min’s conflict in the past month or two, many were taken aback by the abrupt announcement.

The announcement of Min Hee Jin’s resignation as CEO of ADOR was made on August 27, 2024. In a joint statement, ADOR’s firm stated that a board meeting had taken place and that Kim Joo Young, an HR specialist, had been appointed as the new CEO. Instead, Min Hee Jin will play a more imaginative role.

“This is ADOR. On August 27, a board meeting was held and Kim Joo Young was chosen to become the new CEO. Kim Joo Young is an HR expert who has various experiences in the industry and will be tasked with stabilizing ADOR’s internal organization. Min Hee Jin will remain as an internal director and will continue to be tasked with NewJeans’ production. As such, the production and administration of ADOR will be separated. Previously, ADOR was the only (HYBE) label whose CEO was in charge of both administration and production, and that didn’t follow the multi-label strategy. With this change, we are going to do our best to work harder for the success of ADOR and NewJeans. Thank you, the statement read as posted by ADOR”

The public was confused by the abruptness of the move and had numerous questions. However, Min Hee Jin had not been taken by surprise by the reappointment, according to another statement released by HYBE that same day. She had supposedly taken part in the meeting virtually.

The HYBE released a statement, “The board meeting held today, along with the articles of association, including the notification of agenda items and voting procedure was conducted in legal accordance with the procedures set by the Commerical Act. The meeting date was chosen amongst the dates previously suggested by former CEO Min Hee Jin in her request for postponement. Former CEO Min Hee Jin joined the meeting virtually, and the board made the best choice for the future of ADOR and NewJeans after sufficient discussion.”
