Empuraan, Mohanlal’s recent masterpiece, has achieved a remarkable success at the Kerala box office. The movie has already outperformed Leo, which made ₹60 crore in the state, in just six days after its premiere. This historic accomplishment not only solidifies Mohanlal’s dominance at the Malayalam box office but also breaks previous records set by other movies.
Empuraan has surpassed Superstar Vijay’s Tamil film Leo in less than a week, whereas the latter took weeks to attain its lifetime total at the Kerala Box Office. The Mohanlal film has been rewriting box office history with incredible figures every day since it first released.
In 2023, Thalapathy Vijay’s Leo made headlines as Kerala’s highest-grossing Tamil film. It demonstrated the robust market for non-Malayalam films in the state with a lifetime total of ₹60 crore. But in just six days, Empuraan broke that record, reiterating Mohanlal’s supremacy. Leo got off to a great start, but Empuraan quickly outperformed the Tamil smash thanks to its local ties, enormous fan base, and franchise appeal.
The mania has been fueled by the film’s connection to Lucifer, Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s star power, Prithviraj Sukumaran’s vast vision, and Deepak Dev’s thundering soundtrack.
