Danny DeVito confirms he and Arnold Schwarzenegger are working together on film

The awaited on-screen reunion of everyone’s favourite movie twins is getting closer. Danny DeVito has said that he is currently working on a new project with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The announcement comes 35 years after the release of Twins, one of the actors’ most popular collaborations.

In a chat with CNN on Tuesday,  DeVito said, “We’re working on something, a project that we’re going to do together, another movie.”

DeVito said that his friendship with the 76-year-old bodybuilder-actor-politician predated the 1988 comedy about an odd pair of brothers. “Arnold and I are good buddies. We met way before Twins, years ago,” he said. “We get along really well,” said DeVito, who also appeared with the Terminator actor in the 1994 comedy Junior opposite Emma Thompson.

In an interview with GQ in November, the Matilda star hinted at a possible reunion with Schwarzenegger. Referring to the politician’s tenure leading California from 2003 to 2011, DeVito said, “We missed Twins 2, because he became governor — which, he should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor.”

While a sequel to Twins has been speculated for years, including reports of a sequel titled Triplets featuring Eddie Murphy and Tracy Morgan, DeVito stated that what he and Schwarzenegger may collaborate on is instead about “just two friends, two guys.”
