Neve Campbell, popular for her role as Sidney Prescott in the Scream franchise, stepped away from the series due to a salary disagreement during the filming of Scream 6. In any case, she has announced her return for the forthcoming seventh instalment. Here’s what Neve Campbell said.
The actress expressed her excitement in an Instagram post on Tuesday, saying, “Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!! It’s always been such a blast and an honour to get to play Sidney in the ‘Scream’ movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me has never waned.”
She further adds, “I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled.”
Guy Busick, who wrote the scripts for the fifth and sixth movies, will write the script for Scream 7. James Vanderbilt will continue to produce the film along with William Sherak, Paul Neinstein, and the directing collective Radio Silence, who were the executive producers of the previous two films.
After Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega left the franchise, Campbell decided to return. Variety reported that Ortega’s exit from Netflix’s Wednesday series was caused by schedule difficulties, but Barrera was fired from Scream 7 last year for her controversial social media posts.
