Nawabzaade: A Cliched rom-com with a hint of funny puns

STORY: Three closest friends fall hopelessly in love with the girl next door, are played by her throughout the story. However, as the love flies out of the window, the three men understand that the so-called simple girl is more than what meets the eye.

Three friends turned enemies – Karan (Raghav Juyal), Abhishek (Punit Pathak) and Salim (Dharmesh Yelande) – make a special effort to win over their ‘gharelu’ damsel in distress Sheetal (Isha Rikhi) and spend whatever small amount they earn endeavoring to win the trust of her folks and dispose of the family’s financial problems. Reality dawns on these three roadside romeos when the young lady marries another person after playing them to pay for a long time.

‘Nawabzaade’ is your all-time romcom that brings literally nothing new to the table. The young lady charms, the three lads fight for her love, later understanding that they’ve been played. That is it; the story doesn’t state much else.

Dharmesh, Raghav and Punit have great comic timing and some extremely funny punchlines. Yet, since there is no meat in the story, every other perspective simply fails to work out. At times, the audience even may realise that the story seems a bit cliched, hence not adding much to the excitement. Jayesh Pradhan has endeavored to pull off another bromance this year with ‘Nawabzaade’ but there seems to be a few disconnections, hence making it a regular romcom to watch.
