Next year, the TV adaptation of Witch Watch is set to bring magical anime to our screens. Based on the Weekly Shonen Jump manga by Kenta Shinohara, the series is being developed at Bilbury Animation Studio.
Along with a key image and a teaser trailer that teased the audience ahead of the much-anticipated premiere, an official website and an X, formerly Twitter, account also launched today.
Several well-known voice actors will appear in the comedy series, with Rina Kawaguchi of Kizuna no Allele playing Nico Wakatsuki in the lead role. Other cast members are Tomori Kusunoki (Shizuka in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead) voicing Nemu Miyao, Kaito Ishikawa (Naofumi in The Rising of the Shield Hero) as Keigo Magami, Kohei Amasaki (Will in Wistoria: Wand and Sword) voicing Kanshi Kazamatsuri, and Ryota Suzuki (Ryusei in Dr. Stone) voicing Morihito Otogi.
The series is directed by Hiroshi Ikehata; Yukari Hashimoto is in charge of the music, Deko Akao is in charge of the series composition, and Haruko Izuka will look after the character designs.
VIZ Media stated the synopsis of the series:“Morihito Otogi’s family is descended from a long line of ogre familiars, and he has the inhuman strength to prove it. One day, his father comes to him with the life-changing news that he is to become the familiar of his childhood friend, the teenage witch Nico.
“He is to live under the same roof with her and protect her from anything and anyone that may attempt to harm her. Meanwhile, Nico is excited to get to live with the love of her life, even if her crush is one-sided—Morihito is so serious about his duties to protect her that any romance is going to be an uphill battle. But he has every reason to be serious, as Nico has a prophecy of doom hanging over her head!”
The show is scheduled to debut in April 2025. There will be more information soon.
In other news, on Monday, August 19, Weekly Shonen Jump will air its third “press release.” Fans may recall that the first of these events revealed the news about the anime adaptation of Sakamoto Days, while the second one revealed information regarding the manga’s ending for My Hero Academia.
