10 Things I Hate About You, one of the most loved teen classic is set to get an extension with its very own franchise. The director stated that a sequel is in production and a trilogy is indeed a close destination.
In conversation with PEOPLE, Gil shared that the project is currently in the writing stage in collaboration with Naya Elle James: “10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film. We’re developing it right now”.
About 10 Things I Hate About You
In case of the trilogy, the franchise will indeed follow the chronology featuring the emotions of love and romance. 10 Things I Hate About Dating, will be ideated after 10 Things I Hate About Marriage and 10 Things I Hate About Kids.
The OG film, 10 Things I Hate About You was crafted as a modern version of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew. The 1594 play inspired film helped Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles and Joseph Gordon-Levitt to get the stardom and prominence in Hollywood.
Meanwhile, the film will be adorned as an official Broadway avatar. According to Billboard and Variety reports, Golden Globe-winning artist Lena Dunham and the Call Me Maybe fame Carly Rae Jepsen will be part of the adaptation.
