Omniscient Reader: The Prophet has been traction for a captivating concept based on the fictional world turned into reality. Amidst the positive feedback, viewers have criticised over an element used by Jisoo’s character, Lee Ji Hye. She held a gun rather choosing a knife as mentioned in the original webtoon. On June 17, director Kim Byung Woo spilled the beans over the reason for the change, as quoted by Maeil Business Newspaper.

On June 17, the main cast and the director assembled for the production briefing session. Amidst the presence of Ahn Hyo Seop, Lee Min Ho, Chae Soo Bin, Shin Seung Ho and Nana, Jisoo was not present, reportedly due to overpowering schedule.
In congruence to the controversy, Director Kim Byung Woo clarified, “There is a difference from the section in which the back-star appears in the story volume from what our movie is showing.” He affirmed that despite Lee Ji Hye not in the frontline of the fight to safeguard humanity, he intended to make her stand out.
“I made this decision (of Lee Ji Hye using a gun) after a long thought about what can explode the character at the most dramatic moment,” he added. The director nodded to the fact the fans may resonate more with the original version.
Thus, the gun as a weapon was opted to accommodate all the characters within the limited time.
