According to TMZ, Liam Payne’s doctor ceased seeing him a few weeks prior to his untimely death. The singer, who passed away on October 16, required a “higher level of care” than she could offer, according to the mental health expert’s suggestion back in September.

In a statement sent to the Argentine court, the Strip That Down hitmaker’s former physician stated that she decided to stop treating him “after careful consideration and assessment,” according to the outlet’s story on Monday. But she encouraged Payne to stick to a comprehensive treatment plan that includes weekly therapy, seeing a primary care physician, taking “medications only as prescribed, avoiding heavy drinking while on medication, and further testing.”

“Thank you for your understanding, and I wish you the very best in your continued journey toward mental health and well-being,” the psychiatrist penned in a letter.

In order to “process [his] depression and trauma,” the physician also suggested that the singer saw his therapist on a regular basis. She emphasized that managing these problems was “essential” for Payne’s general health.

Payne passed away at the age of thirty-one following a fall from the third-floor balcony of his apartment at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Since then, five individuals have been charged in relation to the singer’s death.
