Season 12 of Chicago Fire is NBC’s biggest entertainment show, with nearly 9 million viewers each week. It is the third most-watched drama on broadcast television, after only CBS’s NCIS and FBI.
Due to strikes in Hollywood, Season 12 started on January 17. According to a recent promo, new episodes will air on March 20.

The 148-day Writers Guild strike that took place last summer, together with the overlapping 118-day SAG-AFTRA strike, caused a delay in the production of the scripts for Season 12. The actors were unable to start shooting until after the SAG-AFTRA strike ended on November 9.
Season 12 filming began on November 27 and has been going well, however, there have been occasional breaks to allow for production to catch up. The season opened with 4 straight episodes, followed by a one-week hiatus and two more episodes. 7 episodes left, the first three of which air on Wednesday, March 20.
