Fans have had a number of queries for the show’s creators ever since Paatal Lok Season 2 debuted on Prime Video India on January 17, 2025. Why they chose to abruptly shoot down Imran Ansari, played by Ishwak Singh in the Jaideep Ahlawat-led series, was one of the most commonly questioned questions. Finally, the makers have addressed this question.

The death of Imran Ansari was a significant event that nobody anticipated, despite the fact that the plots and twists were, to put it mildly, captivating.

They were previously thinking of killing Ansari in Episode 6 or possibly later in the series, according to writer Abhishek Banerjee (who is not to be confused with actor Abhishek Banerjee from Stree 2). “But then we thought, why not raise the stakes for Hathi Ram earlier? To push him into a tragedy unlike anything he’s grappled with before,” he mentioned in conversation with SCREEN.
He was accompanied by Tamal Sen, who said he had a dim memory of a previous instance in which Ansari lived till the very end. He recalled that this character’s ending didn’t make sense at all and that he was abducted as a prisoner or something.

But they all agreed with the idea when Abhishek put it forward. Sen said that the decision was sound structurally as well. Sudip Sharma, the author of Paatal Lok 2, elaborated on the topic, saying that it came up during the first few months of talks.

Ishwak Singh had earlier said that Ansari’s passing “felt like a personal loss.” Described as the “end of the road,” he revealed that everyone was shocked, including his co-star Jaideep Ahlawat.
