Celebrated Bollywood actor and co-owner of the IPL team Punjab Kings, Preity Zinta has donated ₹1 crore to the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) under the segment of Indian Army’s South Western Command, according to a report by Hindustan Times. Her approach highlights the remarkable work carried forward by the tri-forces of India with Operation Sindoor, a retaliation against the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22.
Preity’s note on the families of soldiers
On Sunday, the actor posted on Instagram a clip from the event, wherein she is seen conversing with army families. During her address, she mentioned, “Humari Bhartiya Sena, parakrami nahi, bohot bahadur bhi hain, but usse zyada bahadur aur parakrami in sabke parivaar waale hain. Yeh toh ek bohot chhoti bhet hain humari taraf se.”
Amidst the clip, she wrote an emotional note, marking her personal tribute to the brave soldiers. She mentioned her visit to the South Western Command auditorium and the stills she would carry forward with her.
‘I met the women who would miss these men every day’
She wrote in the post caption, “As I drove towards the auditorium in the South Western Command of the Indian Army, I saw posters of army officers and jawans at regular intervals, who had won various bravery awards. Some laid down their lives for our country, while others came back with scars from the battlefield. These men were husbands, sons, brothers, and fathers. They are part of our armed forces, and they gave up their today for our tomorrow!”
“At the event, I met the women who would miss these men every day and every moment of their lives. I met their kids and saw their smiles. There were no complaints, and no tears–just pride, strength, and sacrifice. There was so much bravery in that auditorium, it humbled me beyond words. It was truly my honor to share the stage with these Veer Naris and their families,” she continued.
About Operation Sindoor
India launched Operation Sindoor with effect from May 7 in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed tourists visiting the Kashmir valley, which also included a foreign citizen from Nepal. The Indian Defence Forces aimed at the terror units in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which led to killings of 100 terrorists associated with terror outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Post the attack, Pakistan fired cross-border shelling over the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, including drone attacks near the border regions, however the coordinates were estimated by the Indian army and the large-scale damage was prevented with care and precision.
