At the US premiere of her film, Radhika Apte shocked admirers by revealing she was pregnant. The actress, who just gave birth to a daughter, talked candidly about her difficulties accepting her body changes both during and post her pregnancy. She described how the different changes in her body caused her to endure pain, edema, and trouble sleeping.
Radhika Apte talked about a maternity picture shoot she had a week before giving birth in a recent interview with Vogue. She acknowledged that she had trouble accepting herself because her body was swollen, her sleep was disrupted, and her body changed in various ways.
She stated, “Truth is, I struggled to embrace how I looked at the time. I had never seen myself put on so much weight. My body was swollen, I had shooting pains in my pelvis, and the lack of sleep had skewed my perspective on everything.”
A week ago, Apte shocked her fans by revealing a photo of her newborn daughter, who was just one week old. She clarified that her body is going through many changes once more after two weeks of giving birth. As a mother, she now finds beauty in those photos and thinks she will always enjoy them, instead of recalling the challenges.
When Radhika announced her pregnancy to her followers, she was taken by surprise, as was her husband, British musician Benedict Taylor. She clarified that although they never made any conscious plans to have children, they were constantly interested in what the next phase would bring.
She said, “In our case, neither of us wanted kids, but there was this one percent curiosity about what it would be like. Then, when this happened, we wondered whether to even go ahead.”
