Teams of Mumbai and Assam Police visited podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s home on Friday as part of their investigation into the contentious comments made on the YouTube program “India’s Got Latent,” but they discovered it locked, according to a police official quoted by PTI. Additionally, officials reported that when they attempted to contact him, his phone was off.
Popular on YouTube, Allahbadia became embroiled in a significant controversy when he made comments about parents and sex on comedian Samay Raina’s now-deleted “India’s Got Latent” YouTube program. In Assam and Mumbai, respectively, at least two formal complaints have been filed against Allahbadia and Raina.
“Teams of the Mumbai and Assam police went to Allahbadia’s flat in Versova this morning, but found it locked. Both the police teams then returned to Khar police station,” an anonymous police official stated to PTI.
In connection with the investigation into his contentious remarks, Allahbadia was asked to stay at the Khar police station here on Thursday, the official said. However, when he did not show up, the police sent him a second summons, asking him to show up on Friday, according to PTI.
As per the official, Ranveer Allahbadia had asked the Khar police to record his statement at his home, but his request had been denied.
Ranveer Allahbadia petitioned the Supreme Court earlier today to have several first information reports (FIRs) against him consolidated.
In relation to a case it has filed in this regard, the Maharashtra Cyber has so far called at least fifty people to record their comments, those who took part in the show earlier.
At least seven persons have so far filed testimonies with the Mumbai police, including actor and movie personality Raghu Ram, Ranveer Allahbadia’s manager, and Apoorva Mukhija, also known as the rebel kid.
