Rapper Sik K aka Kwon Min Sik will now face a 10-month prison sentence, backed with a suspension for two years, as ordered by the Seoul Western District Court on April 30, 2025. The judgement was laid out based on the voluntary confession to drug usage, including the charges filed under South Korea’s Narcotics Control Act.
The artist has verified the allegations of consumption of mariju*na, ketamine, and MDMA (ecstasy). According to the court ruling, he will be kept under probation and along with 40 hours of drug relapse prevention education.
Judgement against Rapper Sik
Judge Ma, who ruled out the judgement stated, “The repeated drug use, including not only marijuana but also ketamine and MDMA, along with his prior record and social influence as a public figure, are aggravating factors”.
“The number of crimes committed, the fact that they used not only marijuana but also ketamine and ecstasy (MDMA), have a similar criminal record, and Kwon is a famous singer with some social influence are unfavorable circumstances,” the Judge added.
Sik K portrayed remorse, gave a nod on usage of marijuana, and his general confession were counted to proclaim a lighter sentence.
As per the prosecutors, the rapper consumed ketamine and MDMA from October 1 to October 9, 2023. On January 19, 2023, he called a police officer in Yongsan-gu, and said, “Is this the police station?”
Post the formal investigation, he was indicted in June 2023, yet not taken officially into the custody. Prosecutors made attempts to incur a jail sentence of 3 years and six months.
Rapper Sik K’s voluntary confession have made it a rare move for cases of such grave importance, hence, it was announced that the sentencing would be made considering the novel facts.
