Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth album Short N’ Sweet: Viral tracks, songwriting collabs and more
Collaborations with well-known musicians are featured on the new album.
Short n’ Sweet, Sabrina Carpenter’s sixth album, has now been officially released. After the popularity of her viral singles Espresso and Please Please Please, fans have been excitedly awaiting the release of her 36-minute, 12-second album, which consists of 12 tracks. Carpenter uses a combination of humor and reflection to explore themes of heartbreak and self-discovery in his most recent work.
Carpenter spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music about her own project, the new album Short n’ Sweet. “I feel a thread running through this album of not just self-discovery, but also getting through the heartache and heartbreak that can often… Man, it can really break you for a long time,” Carpenter verified.
Carpenter worked closely with Julia Michaels and Amy Allen on a number of tracks, such as Coincidence, Taste, and Good Graces. She said in a June Rolling Stone interview that these tracks have some of her most honest songwriting.
In addition, Carpenter worked with renowned producer Jack Antonoff, who produced Lie to Girls, Sharpest Tools, and Please Please Please. It seemed inevitable that Carpenter would collaborate with Antonoff, he told Rolling Stone. “It was only a matter of time… He heard some of the stuff that I was working on for this album, and we just started to make magic.”
“I hope they find whatever they need to guide them through their life through my mistakes,” Carpenter stated. “Because I think the more open I am with my experiences, the more that other people are like, ‘Oh, maybe that’s OK that that happened to me. It’s not the end of the world.’”
Carpenter’s last album, Emails I Can’t Send—which she refers to as the hot elder sister of Short n’ Sweet—was built upon with this honest approach to songwriting. She views Short n’ Sweet as her second big girl record even though it is her sixth album overall.
Fans will be able to hear an exclusive 13th track, titled Needless to Say, which will only be accessible on a special, limited edition vinyl version of Short n’ Sweet, in addition to the 12 tracks that are now available for streaming. For devoted listeners, this bonus track will undoubtedly become a collector’s item as it adds yet more dimension to the album’s narrative.
Early in June, Carpenter made the album’s announcement and described it as “quite special to me.” She said in the weeks preceding the album’s release that she intended to embark on a North American tour with Short n’ Sweet, starting in late September.
