Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent under scrutiny for a contestant’s remark about ‘dog meat

The YouTube series India’s Got Latent, hosted by comedian Samay Raina, is making waves. A competitor on the show from Arunachal Pradesh was the imposed a First Information Report (FIR) for making a remark about “dog meat.”
Arunachal Pradesh resident and competitor Jessy Nabam made remarks about her state’s citizens in a recent episode of India’s Got Latent. She said that she had never eaten dog meat when asked by Samay Raina, although she had heard reports that others had.
She said, “Mere dost khud khaate hain mujhe pata hai. Khud ke pet dog kha lete hain kabhi kabhi (My friends eat it so I know. They even eat their pet dogs at times).”
When asked by the panel, “Yeh aap aise hi bol rahe hain? (Are you saying this just like that?),” the contestant stated, “Nahi aise hi nahi bol rahi hun (No, I am not saying it just like that).”
This incident’s videos went viral after being shared on social media. There has been criticism of the comments, and participant Jessy has a formal complaint filed against her. An FIR was submitted to the officer in charge of the Itanagar Police Station in Arunachal Pradesh on January 31, 2025, according to Hindustan Times.
Arunachal Pradesh resident Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, who lives in Seppa in the East Kameng District, submitted the report. The individual claimed that Jessy Nabam had made “insulting” remarks about the state’s indigenous population. In order to prevent future occurrences of such nature, the complaint further seeked for prompt action to be taken.
