Sanya Malhotra’s career has taken off since the premiere of her most recent film, Mrs., on Zee5. The film has received accolades for both Sanya’s powerful performance and its compelling plot. In response, her earlier films, Pagglait and Meenakshi Sundareshwar, have become extremely popular and are currently among Netflix’s most-watched titles.
Both 2021 films Pagglait and Meenakshi Sundareshwar have achieved unprecedented success by appearing on Netflix’s “Top 10 Movies in India Today” list. Now ranked fourth and fifth on Netflix’s site are Meenakshi Sundareshwar, a romantic comedy in which Sanya co-stars with Abhimanyu Dasani, and Pagglait, a drama that received praise from critics for both the movie and Sanya’s performance.

The director of Mrs., Arati Kadav posted on X, “This is so rare. Our film Mrs. is impacting Netflix’s ranking as people are watching other films of (Star emoji) Sanya Malhotra. Deeply grateful and feeling truly blessed.” Arati said it’s great to see Sanya’s earlier work get recognized due to the success of their movie Mrs.
In Mrs., Sanya portrays Richa, a budding dancer who marries into a patriarchal family through an arranged marriage and battles the never-ending housework that accompanies it. The film’s genuine and relevant depiction of a woman’s emotional journey after marriage has garnered favorable reviews, and Sanya has once again demonstrated her acting prowess.
On the work front, Sanya will star in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari with Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor. In addition, she has an untitled movie with Anurag Kashyap and the Tamil movie Thug Life.
