Jo Yuri began acting after IZ*ONE’s disbandment with the 2022 web drama, Mimicus. According to a new post, she received 300 million KRW (219,315.99 USD) for every episode. Some felt that she didn’t deserve to receive a handsome sum, especially when it is her second project, as quoted by K-media Timetalk.
They felt that Jo Yuri’s fame as an idol had helped her set feet in acting whereas many seasoned actors struggle for years. However, some arrived in support stating that she deserved the recognition and fee. She once revealed in a YouTube interview with Kkondaehee that she has gone through rigorous auditions every week to finally land in a role in Squid Game.
In context to fees, the range for major roles in OTT series is from 100 million to 400 million KRW per episode. Thus the estimated fee of 300 million KRW does not make an ocean of difference. As per reports, her Squid Game 2 co-star, T.O.P, fetched similar scale or may be slightly higher. Deliberations on Jo Yuri’s paycheck has been prevailing since December 2024.
She was also claimed to be have earned 4.2 billion KRW for her work, however she refuted it with utmost politeness.
