The late actor Sridevi received a grand tribute as recently a chowk in Lokhandawala, Mumbai, was unveiled in her honor. On Saturday night, during Dussehra, her husband Boney Kapoor and daughter Khushi Kapoor were observed shedding tears when they officially opened the chowk. Veteran actor Shabana Azmi attended the inauguration as well.
Boney and Khushi honored the late Sridevi by launching the road intersection in her honor. Boney is seen unfurling the cloth that is covering a photo of Sridevi in a video posted on Instagram. Boney also touches the photo of his wife while Khushi stands next to him, visibly moved with the ambience. The inscription on the stone read the name of the legend, Sridevi Kapoor Chowk.
The inauguration was held at 6:00 p.m. on October 12. The chowk is situated at a crossroads close to Green Acres Tower, Sridevi’s longtime home where she spent many years until passing away in 2018. The location has sentimental significance, and at one point, Boney and Khushi appeared to be overwhelmed by the number of people that came by offering solidarity. Janhvi Kapoor was not present for the launch.
Sridevi began acting at an early age and became well-known in the Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Malayalam film industries. Janhvi and Khushi, her two kids, were born in 1997 and 2000, respectively, after she married producer Boney in 1996.
Sridevi was discovered dead in a bathtub at a hotel in Dubai on February 24, 2018. She unintentionally drowned while she was at a family wedding. Since then, Janhvi has talked at length about her mother in a number of interviews, and her sisters have continued her acting tradition. While Khushi made her feature debut in the over-the-top movie The Archies, Janhvi most recently starred in her debut Telugu film, Devara: Part 1.
