Elijah Wald’s 2015 book Dylan Goes Electric served as the inspiration for the film, which James had adapted in a cinematic brilliance.
The story takes place during the turbulent cultural upheaval and thriving music scene of the early 1960s, when “a 19-year-old from Minnesota (Timothée) who arrives in the West Village with his guitar and revolutionary talent, destined to change the course of American music”.
“As he forms his most intimate relationships during his rise to fame, he grows restless with the folk movement and, refusing to be defined, makes a controversial choice that culturally reverberates worldwide, reads the official plotline of the movie,” the official synopsis read.
It also starred Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning, and Edward Norton in lead roles. On December 25, last year, the movie was released in the United States.
