Tom Hanks finally reacts to Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha: Calls it a “glorious thing to behold”
The movie was the official Hindi version of Forrest Gump, the 1994 hit starring Tom Hanks.
Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s version of Forrest Gump, Laal Singh Chaddha, did not do well at the box office when it was released. But the original Forrest Gump star, Tom Hanks, praised the movie and called it a “glorious thing to behold.”
In a recent conversation, Hanks stated, “Look at the differences and yet look at the similarities despite the filmmakers and the cultures that they were in”.
Tom Hanks praised Laal Singh Chaddha, describing it as “extraordinary” in an interview with Zoom. “It’s a testament to how films influence one another in the creative process,” he stated
The actor added, “Every now and again, there is a film that enters the worldwide consciousness that you cannot forget, that you cannot escape.”
He drew attention to the differences and similarities among various films, emphasizing that even while the creators and cultural backgrounds of the films are unique, many of them give new viewpoints and transmit similar ideas.
He emphasized the significance of honoring these movies in his closing remarks, saying, “I just think it’s to be celebrated. It was a glorious thing to behold.”
Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan, could not strike a chord with viewers when it was released in August 2022. Kiran Rao, Aamir’s ex-wife, revealed in a prior interview that their family was impacted by the film’s lackluster reception.
She added, “It did take a toll on us,” adding that they all rallied around Aamir during this difficult time. Kiran discussed Aamir’s choice to take a break following the film’s lackluster reception, explaining that he wanted to spend quality time with his family.
She emphasised on why Aamir stopped taking newer projects “For someone who had been consistently delivering box office hits and working relentlessly for so long, I think this was a time for introspection.” “We all stuck it out together.”
Laal Singh Chaddha directed by Advait Chandan starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya, was released on August 11, 2022.
