In the recently released cinema office hit Daaku Maharaaj, actor Urvashi Rautela costarred with Nandamuri Balakrishna. However, the choreography for the movie’s song Dabidi Dibidi received harsh criticism. Urvashi has now addressed the criticism in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter India.
Urvashi stated as a clarification, “When you look at my rehearsal clips, everything went really well. It was like how we usually choreograph any song. I was working with Master Shekar, with whom I’ve collaborated before—this was my fourth time. So it wasn’t as if I was shocked or doing something completely out of the ordinary. During rehearsals, everything was smooth and under control. But honestly, everything happened so suddenly that it’s been hard to assess why people are talking about the choreography in this way. We didn’t realise it would be received like this because, during rehearsals, everything went as planned.”
She described it as a “peppy” and “massy” track and said that neither she nor the team had expected those kinds of responses. Although she acknowledged reading many viewpoints on it, she had initially anticipated a favorable response. She went on to say that she makes sure her enthusiasm and passion are not overshadowed by constructive criticism.
S. Thaman’s song Dabidi Dibidi was criticized for its “vulgar” and “cringe” movements. Nandamuri Balakrishna can be seen dragging Urvashi up by her frock and pounding her belly button in time with the music in the video. The 64-year-old actor is seen striking the actress on the hips later in the song.
