Vijay Sethupathi refuted playing romantic lead alongside Krithi Shetty in DSP, know why

Reason behind

Krithi was being considered as the female lead for Ponram’s 2022 film DSP, according to Vijay, who was speaking with the media outlet. However, because he had played her father in Buchi Babu Sana’s 2021 Telugu film Uppena, the actor declined to collaborate with her.
He stated, “I declined the offer of being paired opposite Krithi in DSP movie. I played her father in Uppena, which the makers didn’t know about. There’s a scene in Uppena that Krithi was nervous about when we were shooting. I even asked her to think of me as her real father while we were shooting that. She is a little older than my son. I told them I couldn’t do it.”
Later, Anukreethy Vas was cast as Vascodagama’s romantic interest and eventual wife, Annapoorani. Critics gave the movie varying to unfavorable reviews when it first came out.
Interview with the press
In conversation with the press on 2023, the actor said, “I played the role of Bebamma’s father in the Telugu movie Uppena. After Uppena‘s stupendous success, I signed a film in Tamil. The film unit thought that Krithi Shetty would be good as the heroine in the film. When I received her photo, I immediately called the unit and told them I essayed her father in a recently released Telugu film. I can’t romantically approach her. So, please avoid her as a heroine.”
Vijay’s upcoming projects
Vijay will be next seen in Maharaja, directed by Nithilan Swaminathan. In the film, which has a June 14 release date, Anurag Kashyap plays the main character as well. In addition, he features in Gandhi Talks, a silent film, and Vetrimaaran’s Viduthalai 2. Krithi will appear alongside Sharwanand in Sriram Adittya’s Telugu flick Mamamey. On June 7, the movie will be released.
