The story of the movie Welcome to New York revolves around the lives of two people, Teji who is a recovery agent and Jinal, the fashion designer. Both of them dream to make it in the show biz. The two win a ticket to New York for a popular Show where they have the chance to show their talent. However, soon they realize that they are just working as a pawn in the hands of the event manager Sophie who has his personal reasons behind it.
The movie is directed by the Chakri Toleti who is making his debut with Welcome to New York. The movie will take you to the scenes behind the award show that people usually want to see. The movie has a number of scenes that will give you laughter.
Teji (Diljith Dosanjh) and Jinal (Sonakshi Sinha) are the happiest people when they got to know that they won the ticket to be the part of Bollywood awards in New York. Little did they know, that the competition they won among millions was actually a part of the plan of the event manger Sophie ((Lara dutta) She just want to embarrass her boss with these two people.
Karan Jauhar and Ritesh Deshmukh are the host of the award show who throw their weight around and drive Gary up the wall. Double role of Karan Jauhar is seen in the movie. Arjun, the copy of Karan wants him dead as the credit for the success of Karan’s movie kuch kuch hota hai went to Karan Jauhar alone and Arjun’s performance remained unnoticed.
The ultimate comedy duo Ritesh and Karan have brought the oceans of laughter in the movie too as they bring in the award shows they host. Sonakshi and Diljith Dosanjh have a small character to play. Boman Irani is too on the same line. Lara dutta, being the boss have played quite a crucial role in the movie.
The biggest let down in the movie is the script as the different narratives don’t always come together as a whole. You may also find the visual effects of the movie a little tacky. The scenes are so directed to make the audience laugh frothier every moment in the theatre. However, they have not able to hit the bull’s eye successfully every time.
