When Taeyang from BIGBANG and Jimin from BTS collaborated on the song “VIBE” in 2023, they shocked and stunned everyone. But the K-pop community and the fanbases of both bands, VIP and ARMY, were curious about how the partnership came about.

The iconic collab

When asked why he decided to collaborate with Jimin in an interview, Taeyang disclosed that Teddy, the creator and producer of THE BLACK LABEL, had originally come up with the concept. One evening after dinner, the artist was still working at the studio and thinking about his album when he remembered something producer Teddy had said in passing. He’d said that the public would love to hear Jimin and Taeyang collaborate on a really good song.

For Taeyang, this casual remark meant a lot because he thought it was a great idea. But he had trouble setting up these meetings and didn’t know how to approach someone for a feature.

After he finally met Jimin at one of the industry events, Taeyang suggested they collaborate on music as a result of their natural discussions about a range of subjects. After some easy conversation, they went into the studio to record new songs, listen to music, and eventually release the song “VIBE.”
