The entertainment industry was shocked to learn that actor Noor Malabika Das, who recently starred with Kajol in the 2023 judicial drama The Trial, had committed suicide. The actor’s body was discovered in her Mumbai apartment. Noor have passed away on Thursday, June 6, in her Lokhandwala apartment in Mumbai. She died at 31.

Noor was employed by Qatar Airways as an air hostess prior to entering show business. Her native state was Assam She appeared in a number of films, including Backroad Hustle, Siskiyaan, Walkaman, Teekhi Chatni, Jaghanya Upaya, Charamsukh, and Dekhi Andekhi. Her latest appearance was in The Trial, starring Jissu Sengupta and Kajol.

The actor had more than 163K Instagram followers and was quite active on social media. Noor posted a picture of herself with Anupamaa actor Sudhanshu Pandey on May, last year, along with the caption, “Starting of Mumbai journey 2018..one of my favourite & great actor (friend) One & only Pandey Jee… I still love this song tụhi mera pyar gori.”

According to reports, Noor’s neighbors reported her to the police after they smelled something bad coming from her Lokhandwala apartment. Mumbai Police have begun looking into her death in the interim. Also, her family has been notified. An NGO burned the actor on Sunday after her family failed to show up to claim her remains.

In a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the All India Cine Workers Association also requested an investigation into her demise.

“Her untimely death is a poignant reminder of the disturbing trend of suicides within the Indian film fraternity. The recurrence of such tragic incidents within the Bollywood industry calls for a serious introspection and a thorough investigation into the underlying causes. It is imperative to explore all possible factors, including the potential for foul play, to ensure that the truth is brought to light and justice is served,” said the letter.
