On June 3, Netflix India and Sanjay Leela Bhansali jointly posted on Instagram to inform all of the fans that the web series, which starred Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Rich Chadha, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman, Sharmin Segal, Taha Shah, and others, has been renewed for a second season.

A group of girls are seen in the announcement video performing a medley of the show’s songs on Carter Road in Mumbai. The dancers are dressed in shimmering Anarkalis and ghungroos, which captures the aesthetics of the show. The voice-over in the video makes it clear that Heeramandi 2 will highlight the journey of all the tawaifs who aspire for a liberated and proud life in post-independent India.
