Aakash Chopra slams RCB franchise for poor success rate in IPL 2024 despite Virat Kohli’s top performance

Former Indian opener Aakash Chopra didn’t mince words as he expressed disappointment over Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s lackluster performance in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, stating that nothing seems to have changed for the franchise apart from their name.

With just one victory in their opening five games of the season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru suffered a depressing loss at Sawai Mansingh Stadium against Rajasthan Royals. Even though they had a strong opening partnership of 125 runs, which included a century from captain Virat Kohli and a noteworthy 44 runs from Faf du Plessis, RCB was unable to build on their momentum and eventually set RR a goal of 184 runs. With five balls remaining, though, the Rajasthan Royals—led by Jos Buttler—managed to successfully reach the mark.

Aakash Chopra expressed his disappointment on YouTube about RCB’s awful performance, emphasising the team’s incapacity to win or show a battling mentality.

“Everyone anticipated this tournament to be filled with twists and thrilling encounters. However, the Bengaluru team seems to be an exception. They are neither winning matches nor demonstrating the fighting spirit we expect,” remarked Chopra.

“What’s the issue? Despite Kohli’s consistent run-scoring, the team is struggling to find support from other players, and whatever they manage to score falls short of expectations,” he added.
