M.K. Stalin, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu, has revealed plans to construct a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore, which is a big step forward for local sports fans.

“We will take efforts to establish a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Coimbatore, with the active participation of the sports-loving people of Coimbatore. This stadium aims to be Tamil Nadu’s second international-standard cricket venue after Chennai’s iconic MAC stadium,” Stalin announced on social media.

The proposed stadium in Coimbatore underscores the government’s commitment, as emphasized by Sports Minister @Udhaystalin, to nurture talent and enhance sports infrastructure in Tamil Nadu.

This initiative marks the second international cricket stadium in Tamil Nadu, following Chennai’s M.A. Chidambaram Stadium, home to the five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings. Established in 1916, Chepauk, as it is often referred to, is the second-oldest stadium in the country.
