Cristiano Ronaldo throws tantrum and gestures to officials as he walks off after Portugal’s loss to Slovenia; Watch

Despite all of his accomplishments, awards and outstanding performances over his 20-year career, Ronaldo cannot be the star man in every game. This was made clear in the friendly match between Portugal and Slovenia, where his weaknesses were exposed and his team played poorly, ultimately losing 0–2 to Slovenia.

After the final whistle, Ronaldo was clearly unhappy with his team’s performance as he was seen marching into the locker room throwing his arms up.

On March 22, Portugal faced Sweden in an international friendly, but Cristiano Ronaldo was not available. In that game, the Portuguese team was outstanding as they defeated the Swedish team 5-2 to win 11 games in a row under Roberto Martinez’s management. Portugal’s all-time greatest goalscorer started against Slovenia with the squad aiming for a 12th straight victory, but things didn’t quite go their way.

Despite having a star-studded lineup, Portugal was well outmatched by their opponents throughout the match.

With only one shot during open play, Cristiano Ronaldo was hardly able to make an impact on the game. The Portuguese star’s only effort during the match was a shimmy strike that went just wide of the post. After 45 minutes, neither Portugal nor Slovenia had scored a goal, making the first half boring.

In the second half, things began to heat up as Benjamin Sesko pushed Portugal’s goalkeeper Diogo Costa to make a save. Adam Gnezda Cerin came up in the vital hour for Slovenia, making a brilliant move through the middle and finishing with a well-constructed goal for the hosts.

Timi Elsnik then widened Slovenia’s advantage from a tough angle, ending Portugal’s 11-game winning run.
