It appears like Xavi Hernandez has found a tiny bit of small life at Barcelona, despite all the differences and setbacks early in the season. And it seems like his efforts have not gone unappreciated, as Barcelona president Joan Laporta openly stated his desire for the former midfield player to change his mind and maybe stay with the team.

Laporta told to Mundo Deportivo, “Xavi insists on saying he won’t change his mind and he’s gonna leave in June but… we will see. I’d really, really, really like Xavi to change his mind and stay as Barça manage. I won’t put pressure on Xavi. It depends on him, he’s aware of my desire for him to stay here. We will see at the end of the season.”

He also added, “I still hope to keep Xavi next season, but it’s only up to him”.

Xavi announced in January that he will leave his role as Barcelona’s head coach at the end of the current campaign.

After a disappointing start to the season, Barcelona has recently found a hot streak, winning four and drawing one of their past five La Liga games.

Barca also defeated a tough Napoli team to get to the quarterfinals, where they will meet French champions PSG.
