Mumbai Indians’ homecoming at the Wankhede Stadium against Rajasthan Royals on Monday night witnessed an unexpected incident involving Rohit Sharma and an overzealous fan.
Despite no longer being the captain, Rohit remains a beloved figure amongst Mumbai fans, who gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of their local hero. Fans also suggest that they welcome this downfall in hopes that the management will reinstate Rohit Sharma as the captain. In the recent match against Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians suffered their third loss of the season, with Riyan Parag of RR scoring his second consecutive fifty for the team.
However, Rohit failed to entertain the crowd as he was dismissed for a golden duck off Trent Boult’s bowling in the very first over. Later, while fielding at first slip, Rohit had an unexpected visitor on the field, leaving him jumpscared.
A young fan managed to breach the security cover at the Wankhede Stadium and rushed towards Rohit. As the fan approached, Rohit stepped back in shock.

The fan then shook hands and hugged Rohit, and even embraced Ishan Kishan, who was stationed behind the wickets, before the security officials intervened and escorted the fan off the field.
Despite Akash Madhwal’s impressive performance with three wickets in the game, MI’s low total of 125 runs left fans disheartened.
