In the ongoing clash between RCB and LSG, KL Rahul, the skipper of Lucknow Super Giants stated how everyone was just talking about Mayank Yadav’s pace in their last game against Punjab Kings, rather than talking about the win.
RCB won the toss and opted to field and captain Faf stated – “We are going to chase. The previous game we played on here first innings it was slower. Some places it is patchy and dry. It really important to find some answers. We have had some really good conversations. It would be good if you keep learning from the mistakes. There is a touch of moisture and let’s see how it goes. Topley comes in for Alzarri.”

KL Rahul: It is a bit different. Been used to coming here and walking into the home dressing room, bit different when I walk into the visiting dressing room. We have showed character in both games. Everyone is chipping in and that gives you a lot of confidence, we need to keep doing that and keep getting better. Some of the guys have gotten better with their skills since season one, the combination is coming well as a team. Now we need to put some runs on the board and put pressure on the opposition. More than the victory everyone was talking about Mayank’s pace, he has been with us since the first season and was unlucky to miss out last season with injury. Just one change – Mohsin Khan has a sore back and Yash Thakur comes in.
In 2021, during the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, former India wicketkeeper Vijay Dahiya, then an assistant coach and talent scout for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), spotted an exciting fast bowling talent from the Delhi nets. Immediately, Dahiya got in touch with the bowler and spoke to Gautam Gambhir, LSG’s director of cricket at the time, insisting they must pick him at the auction.
That fast bowler was the 21-year-old Mayank Yadav, who, on Saturday, broke the back of the Punjab Kings chase with a four-over spell of extreme fast bowling that will be remembered for a long time. Hitting speeds north of 150kph repeatedly, Mayank had batters with international experience hopping, and his 155.8kph thunderbolt to Shikhar Dhawan has been recorded as the fastest ball of this IPL season.
