The Indian Premier League (IPL) often shows amazing batting skills, and one exciting part is seeing teams score lots of runs in the first overs. In the IPL 2024 season, we’ve already seen some great innings, with teams getting big scores in the first ten overs.
In an ongoing match between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam, KKR unleashed a fireworks display right from the start. Led by opener Sunil Narine and the promising talent Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who came in at number three, KKR showcased an onslaught of aggressive batting.
By the end of the 10th over, KKR had amassed a staggering 150 runs for the loss of just one wicket. This electrifying start places them among the elite few in IPL history to achieve such a feat within the first quarter of the match.
This season of the IPL has notably favored batsmen, with pitches conducive to high-scoring encounters. Despite the occasional brilliance from pace bowlers like Burger, Mayank Yadav, and Nortje, teams have capitalized on favorable conditions to post imposing totals.
KKR’s blistering performance has even placed them within reach of breaking the record for the highest team total in a single IPL innings. The current record stands at 277 runs, achieved by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a match against Mumbai Indians.
