Lionel Messi had the perfect answer to fans chanting Cristiano Ronaldo’s name during a game between Inter Miami and Nashville FC.
The Argentine star recently led Miami to the CONCACAF Champions Cup quarterfinals after Miami defeated Nashville 5-3 on aggregate in the Round of 16. During the second leg of their match, Nashville fans threw many Ronaldo chants at Messi, catching him off-guard.
However, La Pulga remained unbothered and scored a stunning goal off a dribble seconds later. ESPN FC shared a video of the entire incident via Instagram. The caption reads: “Nashville fans were chanting ‘Ronaldo’ at Lionel Messi and then he did this”.

The opening leg of the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16 match between Inter Miami and Nashville FC took place on March 8. The match took place in GEODIS Park. Nashville scored the game’s first goal in the fourth minute, shocking Miami. In the second half, Nashville added another goal to lead Miami by two. However, Lionel Messi equalized for his team in the 52nd minute, converting a Luis Suarez assist. The Uruguayan attacker saved a draw for Miami by scoring in the final seconds of regulation.
This leads us to the second leg game between Nashville FC and Inter Miami that happened yesterday, March 14. Miami had early success in the Chase Stadium. In just the eighth minute, Luis Suarez scored the first goal, assisted by Lionel Messi. In the twenty-third minute, Messi added Miami’s second goal. At minute 50 of the second half, Ross Taylor was substituted by the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner. Miami benefited from the decision, as Taylor added a third goal. The final whistle saw Miami win the match 3-1. Nashville’s sole goal of the game came in the 93rd minute from Sam Surridge.
