Google has unveiled its suite of artificial intelligence-powered tools, aimed at enterprise customers, for a monthly fee of $30 per user. The move comes as Google seeks to tap into the growing popularity of AI technology, mirroring rival Microsoft’s “Copilot” AI-powered office software suite. This software bundle, including Teams and Outlook, also comes at a monthly price of $30.
This strategic step by Google is a response to the surging demand for AI-powered solutions, especially after the success of Microsoft-backed OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Google has been ramping up its investments in generative AI to catch up with the competition.
Announcing these tools at the Google Next conference in San Francisco, the tech giant showcased its commitment to advancing AI technology. The event also featured the introduction of an upgraded version of Google’s custom AI chips and a tool designed for watermarking and identifying AI-generated images.
Among the new offerings is “Duet AI in Workspace,” which assists users across various Google apps. From aiding in writing documents in Docs to drafting emails in Gmail and creating custom visuals in Slides, the AI tool aims to enhance productivity and creativity.
Google emphasized that these tools have been meticulously tested, with over a million users participating in the trial phase. The company intends to expand its offerings in the coming months, targeting other customer segments such as small and medium-sized businesses and consumers.
In response to this move, OpenAI also revealed a new version of its ChatGPT, designed specifically for large businesses. ChatGPT Enterprise claims to provide heightened security, privacy, and faster access to OpenAI’s technology. Notable early adopters of this version include Block, Carlyle, and Estee Lauder Companies. This intensified competition in the AI-powered tools market is set to bring about innovative solutions catering to various enterprise needs.
