Axis Bank Rolls Out ‘Safety Centre’ With Industry-First SMS Shield Feature

Axis Bank has rolled out Safety Centre, a new digital security solution on its mobile banking app, designed to give customers end-to-end control over account safety through real-time security tools.

A key highlight of the Safety Centre is SMS Shield, an industry-first feature that authenticates bank messages by verifying the sender against Axis Bank’s official IDs. Other controls allow customers to disable Internet Banking, stop fund transfers, restrict UPI usage, block Net Banking payments on third-party platforms, prevent new payee additions, and set customised transaction limits.

Speaking on the launch, Sameer Shetty, Group Executive – Digital Business, Transformation & Strategic Programs, Axis Bank, said, “Axis Bank has always prioritized customer safety as the cornerstone of its digital-first approach. The Safety Centre represents a decisive step in tackling the surge in digital frauds by giving customers real-time control over their banking security. We are continuously strengthening our safeguards through layered protection and advanced authentication features such as SMS Shield and In-App Mobile OTP, which ensure uninterrupted access while reducing dependency on external networks. These innovations combine robust security with a seamless experience, making digital banking intuitive and reliable. By embedding future-ready capabilities, we aim to deliver a secure ecosystem that evolves with the changing threat landscape and customer expectations.”

By offering selective blocking and instant activation, the Safety Centre aims to reduce exposure to fraud while ensuring a seamless digital banking experience. The bank said the solution also enhances operational efficiency by reducing reliance on physical and call-based support.
