Uber Bets Big on Premium Segment, Plans to Double Uber Black Fleet by 2026

Riding on increasing demand for premium transportation, Uber has announced plans to double the fleet size of its Uber Black service in India by 2026, strengthening its presence in the luxury mobility segment.

Uber Black currently operates in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, offering high-end vehicles driven by top-rated drivers. Designed as a premium alternative within Uber’s ecosystem, the service focuses on comfort, reliability, and an elevated riding experience.

A key differentiator of Uber Black is its exclusive airport infrastructure. Dedicated Uber Black Zones are operational at Bengaluru Airport (Terminals 1 and 2) and Mumbai Airport (Terminal 2, P6), enabling expedited pickup of premium vehicles for travellers seeking a seamless airport commute.

To support fleet expansion, Uber announced a Series A investment in Carrum, a CarDekho Group-backed fleet management firm. Carrum has been a long-term fleet partner and the fresh capital infusion will help expand vehicle supply and scale operations on the Uber platform.

In addition, Uber has rolled out its Reserve feature for Uber Black in Delhi. The feature allows users to book rides between two hours and 90 days in advance, catering to planned travel and high-value use cases.

Prabhjeet Singh said the expansion reflects growing demand for premium mobility in India and Uber’s intent to raise service quality while creating long-term value for riders, drivers, and fleet partners.

Uber also noted strong traction for Uber One, its membership programme, with more than one million users in India availing benefits across bikes, autos, and cars.
