Vi has announced the rollout of India’s first recharge-linked handset theft and loss insurance plans, exclusively for prepaid customers. The offering is available across select prepaid packs and provides coverage of up to ₹25,000 against handset theft or loss.
The insurance is offered through three recharge options:

₹61 pack – 30 days validity, up to ₹25,000 insurance, 2GB data for 15 days

₹201 pack – 180 days insurance validity, 10GB data for 30 days

₹251 pack – 365 days insurance validity, 10GB data for 30 days
Vi said the solution addresses high insurance premiums by spreading the cost across incremental recharge payments. The company has also introduced a simplified, digital-first claims journey that leverages existing customer data to reduce paperwork and accelerate resolution timelines.
By bundling insurance with recharge packs, Vi aims to eliminate the need for separate insurance purchases while expanding access to handset protection.
